This thing is a MONSTER! Women faint, children start crying, men of weak constitution wet themselves...joking. It is massive, but then it has to be to control the recoil, which it does (but barely). Yes, it definitely has some recoil, but it is manageable

I liken the Judges and their counterparts to the enduro motorcycle concept. They are for on and offroad. They can do both, but neither well. I would think for bear protection that you would be better served with a dedicated revolver in .454 or .45 Colt, .
