About MAS 1873 Chamelot-Delvigne
The service revolver model 1873 Chamelot-Delvigne was the first double action revolver used by the French army, non-commissioned officers, cavalry troopers and gendarmes. It was designed by Henri-Gustave Delvigne and J. Chamelot and produced by Manufacture d'armes de Saint-Étienne from 1873 to 1887 in about 337,000 copies. It was chambered for blackpowder 11 x 17mm R center-fire cartridge, which propelled its 180-grain bullet at 804 fps, resulting in a muzzle energy of 253 ft./lbs.
