Beretta M9, also known as Beretta 92FS, is a semi-automatic pistol designed and manufactured by Beretta. It is based on the design of the earlier Beretta M1923 and Beretta M1951 pistols.
The M9 was adopted by the United States Armed Forces in 1985 as their standard sidearm, replacing the Colt M1911A1. It was also adopted by many law enforcement agencies around the world, and remains a popular choice for civilian use as well.
The M9 features a 4.9-inch barrel and an overall length of 8.5 inches. It has a magazine capacity of 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition. The frame and slide are made of aluminum alloy, while the barrel and other internal parts are made of steel.
The M9 has a double-action/single-action trigger, meaning that the first shot can be fired in double-action mode with a longer and heavier trigger pull, while subsequent shots can be fired in single-action mode with a shorter and lighter trigger pull.
