In this revolver the barrel is so constructed that the arm cannot be opened or closed unless the hammer is at half-cock safety notch. This pistol today worths $400-$800. Otis Smith was gunmaker in Middlefield and later Rockfall, Connecticut who patented his revolver in 1873 and than manufactured them from 1873 to 1890. He was also making and selling his guns under the names of US or United States Armes or United States Armes Otis A. Smith Company. He was making solid frame spur trigger single action revolvers.
