Detailed Review
The Weatherby Vanguard Series II Back Country is a high-performance rifle designed for hunting and long-range shooting. It's built to withstand tough environments and has features that enhance accuracy and precision.
The Back Country rifle has a lightweight synthetic stock with a textured finish that provides a firm grip even in wet conditions. The stock is reinforced with carbon fiber to reduce weight and increase durability. Its Monte Carlo design allows the shooter's cheek to rest comfortably on the stock, providing proper alignment with the scope. The stock also has a Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad that reduces felt recoil, making it comfortable to shoot even with heavy loads.
The rifle features a fluted barrel made of cold-hammer-forged stainless steel that's free-floating, meaning it doesn't touch the stock. This design minimizes pressure on the barrel and allows for consistent accuracy. The barrel is also threaded for suppressor use, making it an ideal choice for hunters who want to minimize noise and recoil. The Back Country rifle's barrel is 24 inches long, providing sufficient velocity for long-range shooting.
The Back Country rifle comes with Weatherby's LXX trigger system, which is adjustable from 2.5 to 3.5 pounds. The trigger is crisp and clean, offering a smooth pull that doesn't affect accuracy. It also has a three-position safety that allows you to operate the bolt while the safety is engaged, making it easy to unload or load the rifle without compromising safety.
The Back Country rifle uses Weatherby's Sub-MOA guarantee, which means it can shoot three-shot groups of less than 1 inch at 100 yards when used with premium ammunition. The rifle is chambered for a variety of popular cartridges, including 6.5 Creedmoor, .270 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, and .300 Winchester Magnum, among others.
In summary, the Weatherby Vanguard Series II Back Country is a combination of high-quality materials, advanced technology, and precision engineering that make it one of the best rifles for hunting and long-range shooting. Its lightweight design, adjustable trigger, and superior accuracy make it an excellent choice for hunters and enthusiasts who demand the best performance from their firearms.

Still in the factory box. Too early for a review.

August 26, 2014Received my new Weatherby Vanguard S2 BC 3006 exactly as advertised. Topped it with a new Swarovski Z3 30-10x42 BRH. Took it to the woods to break it in according to Weatherby instructions. Astonished at how accurate it was with absolutely zero adjustment
