Detailed Review

The Ruger SR-556 is a semi-automatic rifle that was initially introduced in 2009. It is considered to be one of the best AR-style rifles on the market due to its quality build and impressive performance. The rifle is chambered in 5.56 NATO caliber which makes it suitable for both small and medium-sized game hunting as well as self-defense.

The rifle’s upper receiver is made of aircraft-grade aluminum, which makes it lightweight and durable. The lower receiver is made of black synthetic material which provides a comfortable and secure grip for the shooter.

The SR-556 features a 16.1-inch barrel which is chrome-lined, cold hammer-forged, and threaded for a suppressor. This allows the shooter to attach different types of muzzle devices according to their needs. The rifle also has a gas piston operation which reduces recoil and ensures smooth cycling of the rifle’s action.

In terms of optics, the rifle has a Picatinny rail on top of the receiver. This allows the shooter to mount any type of optic they prefer, whether it be a scope or a red dot sight. The rifle also has adjustable flip-up iron sights which are useful in case of optic failure.

The SR-556 has a fixed stock which is adjustable for length of pull. It also has a Hogue Monogrip pistol grip which provides a comfortable and secure hold for the shooter. The rifle has a two-stage trigger which is adjustable for trigger pull weight making it easier to shoot accurately. The rifle comes with a 30-round magazine, but the shooter has the option to use other magazines according to their preference.

Overall, the Ruger SR-556 is a high-quality rifle that features excellent build quality, impressive performance, and versatility. Its gas piston operation, adjustable stock and trigger, and the ability to mount various optics make it a popular choice among hunters, target shooters, and self-defense enthusiasts.

Not Exactly

I purchased my SR 556 Takedown a few years ago. I love the idea of a takedown AR, but the accuracy is an issue. I have tried 40 & 60 grain V Max, 55 grain Z Max, 55 grain spire point and 69 grain Sierra Match Kings. I started with a 1X6 Vortex with th

Excellent Rifle

I've owned this rifle for over a year, fired many different brands of cheap range ammo and not had any issues. Rifle is well made, easy to remove the barrel and clean, etc. This SR-556 looks like it's made to last a lifetime and I get compliments every ti

My neighbors were not impressed

Here I thought I would buy this and be the lord and master of my subdivision. Alas, I was once again outranked by the guy with the Harley next door. Sad!

Very disappointing -- will return

Poor accuracy. Constant jamming. Piece of junk. Only way to hit something is by luck.

Disappointed

I thought this could fire 700 rounds a minute? Such a bummer!

Great rifle in 5.56 but .300 Blackout has Issues

The 5.56 caliber works great and is accurate. However the .300 blackout barrel did not work at all for me. It essentially was a single shot rifle with a failure to feed issue. Customer service has been outstanding.

Had this rifle for 6 months. Fires flawlessly to 100 yds. I have the 300 AAC barrel and I will report on that soon. Going to sell/trade my Armalite AR10 for its cousin the SR765, Not a starter AR platform.. Little heavy, but I like that_
