About Beretta PM12S Submachine Gun
This is an excellent example of a very scarce Beretta PM12s 9 mm submachine gun. This is a fully automatic Class III/NFA "sales Sample" SMG, which is very rare to find in the U.S. as Beretta was usually very reluctant to sell SMGs outside of Italy due to the proliferation of small arms. This was developed by Beretta in the early 1960s, and was widely used by the Italian Carabinieri and the Italian State Police and later on in the 1970s on a limited basis by the Italian Air Force for use by the security guards. It also found great success in the Arab countries. They are an excellent, well made blowback operated SMG that has a unique bolt assembly that has dual sliding rails that extend up around the end of the barrel which has a conical breech face. The complete bolt actually encloses the end of the barrel, giving the weapon a very short overall compact length. The complete bolt and dual sliding rails appear to be stainless steel, making them easy to clean. It has dual pistol grips to aid in controlling the weapon during firing along with a dual safety mechanism; one safety is located on the left side that is actually the selector switch (R, I and S) with a second safety actually located on the front of the rear pistol grip. To load/cock the weapon you have to squeeze the pistol grip safety, which will also prevent accidental discharges if the weapon is dropped. It has a two position rear sight with an elevation adjustable post front sight. It is fitted with a side folding steel buttstock with a folding sheet metal buttplate. It comes with one stick magazine. The left side is stamped "P.M. Beretta MOD 12S-Cal. 9mm Parabellum F37430", and the right side is marked "MADE IN ITALY".
