Robar Melior New Model Type II/Jieffeco

The Melior New Model pistol was made by the Belgian firm Robar. Same pistol was made for sales in the United States as Jieffeco pistol. The Jieffeco pistol was marketed for a short time by Davis Warner Arms Corporation of New York. Meliors were made until the 1950s in fairly large quantities. It sold well in both Europe and the USA. Often a back-up weapon for troops and used by resistance and partisans groups. The left side of the Melior's slide has a two-line inscription: MELIOR, BREVETS-259178-265491-LIEGE-BELGIUM. The identical gun also appears as the Jieffeco, with the following inscription: PISTOLET AUTOMATIQUE JIEFFECO DEPOSE, BREVETS-259178-265491 LIEGE BELGIUM. Robar company was gun manufacturer from city of Liege in Belgium. It changed three names during it's history: Robar Fils & Co from 1906 to 1910, Robar Fils and L De Kerckhove from 1910 to 1926, Robar & Co from 1926 to 1972.
