Hawes Firearms Medallion

The Medallion revolver was made by J.P. Sauer & Sohn in 1970's in Germany as a copy of Smith & Wesson revolvers. They were imported and marketed in the USA by Hawes Firearms from Los Angeles, California so they are often offered on antique market as Hawes Firearms revolvers. Hawes also imported Trophy revolver that is same revolver with some minor differences like: tall patridge style blade front sight, flat topped square notch adjustable for windage and elevation as rear sight and vent rib barrel. One imported by Hawes Firearms has these markings: Left side of the barrel is marked “J.P. Sauer & Sohn / Made in Western Germany”. The right side of the barrel is marked “Sauer Trophy / Cal. .38 Special” or 22LR. The right side of the frame is marked with the “S&S” logo and “Hawkes Firearms Co. / Los Angeles, Calif.” The grips are brown oversized checkered hardwood with gold “S&S” medallions.
