Available with non-selective single triggers and automatic safety catch, or with 3" magnum chamber. Actions are available in either conventional square bar, round bar or ultra round bar shape. Stock comes in straight, semi or full pistol grip. The Purdey side by side action patented in 1880 is still made now with only very minor changes. The action mechanism, designed by Frederick Beesley, retains a portion of the energy in the mainsprings to facilitate the opening of the gun - "an inherent easy opener!" This gives the tube the correct Purdey profile with wall thickness tollerance of .001”. Purdey Slakum finish is an oil finish, unique to Purdeys and is made up in house from linseed oil, beeswax and driers. Stock is made of Turkish walnut.
