Developed to replace the Sig P210, equipped with a double action mechanism and which remains as reliable and precise as its ancestor, the Sig P220 was adopted in 1975 by the Swiss Army under the name 9mm pistol. 75, of which it is in particular the orderly weapon of the senior officers and non-commissioned officers. Later, other armed forces and police around the world adopted it.
