The Bushmaster Gas Piston System Rifles bring new levels of reliability to the “AR” type rifle platform by eliminating carbon build up, gas leaks and heat within the Upper Receiver. It combines hard-use durability, permanent stability, greater corrosion resistance, and, of course, the Model 700's legendary accuracy. The Model 700 AWR starts with the world's strongest bolt action design. Unlike Mauser type bolt actions, there's no ejector cut to weaken the bolt. And the extractor assembly cannot override the cartridge and jam. Instead, all Model 700 rifles feature a bolt mechanism that's stronger by design. An unbroken wall of steel encircles the bolt face, supporting the extractor and making it grip the cartridge head tighter as pressure increases. The bolt, barrel and receiver surround the cartridge with three rings of solid steel for maximum strength. The barrel contour is a special, 24" Custom Shop magnum profile that's high on accuracy and low on weight. Each trigger mechanism is hand assembled and tested to ensure crisp, reliable performance, shot after shot.
