Browning Silver Hunter
The Browning(R) Silver Hunter(TM) Matte is a lightweight, fast handling semi-auto shotgun that's designed with upland bird hunting in mind; though its self-adjusting Active Valve gas system increases its versatility to include most any type of wing shooting or shooting sport. The Active Valve gas system vents excess gas out the top of the forearm, and away from the receiver for clean, reliable operation with 2-3/4" and 3" shells, without the need or adjustment. The Silver Hunter Matte model comes with a matte blued barrel, a 2-tone silver/black receiver, and a checkered Turkish walnut stock with a brown, ventilated recoil pad. The semi-humpback receiver design with a ventilated rib and brass front bead creates a sight picture that's quick to pick up and swing on moving targets. The barrel comes back bored and threaded for Browning's Invector-Plus choke tubes (includes IC, M, & F) to deliver consistently tight shot patterns. Available with double triggers and automatic safety catch, or with 3" magnum chamber. Actions are available in either conventional square bar, round bar or ultra round bar shape. Stock comes in straight, semi or full pistol grip. The Purdey side by side action patented in 1880 is still made now with only very minor changes. A back action interceptor seer lock. Built on the Woodward patent acquired by Purdey in 1949. The mechanism has undergone little change since then."All Purdey barrels, both SxS and O/U, are of chopper lump construction.Each individual tube is hand filed and then "struck up" using striking files. This gives the tube the correct Purdey profile with wall thickness tollerance of .001". Purdey Slakum finish is an oil finish, unique to Purdeys and is made up in house from linseed oil, beeswax and driers. Stock is made of Turkish walnut.
