Boxall and Edmiston Boxlock with Sideplates
The Boxlock shotgun with ornamental sideplates has been developed using cutting edge manufacturing methods whilst keeping a strong sense of tradition throughout the weapon. B&E has concentrated on innovation and refinement of the tried and tested Anson & Deeley action. Special features include the interchange ability of parts (hence lower maintenance costs), exceptional draw strength, the use of high grade carbon steels, an exemplary barrel assembly, a uniquely positive ejector system, carbo-nitriding of all the moving parts. UNCOMPROMISING STRENGTH: The highest grade steel is used for all components. A deeper table, which is the thickness of material beneath the action flats, increases the guns core strength as the shots forces are spread via the active draw throughout the weapons body. Additional strength is achieved using a back action lock system, the main spring is housed at the rear instead of compromising action strength (as used in high powered double barrelled rifles). DESIGNED FOR MODERN AMMUNITION: All the guns are chambered for 2 3” cartridges and nitro-proofed, a necessity for modern ammunition, (an uncommon feature in old British guns). Longer forcing cones provide a softer transition of shot into the bore resulting in less deformation and a more consistent pattern. BARRELS Weight distribution is everything in a gun. To achieve the optimum dynamics we use a formula that is over 100 years old. The London shape and dimensions distribute the barrel weight throughout the weapon giving the gun its smooth mount and responsive swing. IMPROVED EJECTOR SYSTEM: With the introduction of diamond shaped ejector legs (eliminating the need for the weakguide leg) the gun benefits from increased contact areas, reducing wear and providing a smooth and more efficient ejection system. INTERCEPTOR SEARS: The Sidelock benefits from interceptor sears, an additional safety mechanism built into the lockwork. Boxall and Edmiston Ltd were established in 2009 with the aim of manufacturing a truly British shotgun. In July 2010 the dream became reality with the launch of the Boxlock with Sideplates at the CLA Game Fair. The Boxlock represents the coming together of manufacturing innovation and the art of British Gun making. One year on, the Sidelock was launched at the 2011 CLA Game Fair. The Sidelock is the flagship of the range and has all the features a Boxall and Edmiston gun is known for.
