LES Inc. P-18 Rogak
The P-18 Rogak was made by LES Inc. (Rogak Inc.) in Morton Grove, Illinois. In the 1970s, Austrian STEYR DAIMLER PUCH devoloped the GB selfloading pistol (GB = Gas Bremse, "Gas Brake") wirh large capacity magazine of 18 9mm Para rounds. Les Rogak, a Steyr importer in the USA got the blueprints for that pistol and he started to manufacture it in the USA under his brand: P-18 Rogak. Little later, Steyr started to manufacture same pistol in Austria under the name GB. Les Rogak's P-18 Rogak had short life. It was made in 9mm Para caliber that was not popular in that time (this was almost seven years before the U.S. Armed Forces adopted a 9mm automatic pistol) and workmanship was poor so the leaky gas delay mechanism did not work. Slide markings are “LES. P-18, CAL. 9MM PARA.” on left side and “ROGAK, INC., MORTON GROVE, ILL, USA” on right side. Steyer's GB pistol was not made form stainless steel like P-18 Rogak but workmanship was much better. From 1981 to 1986 Steyr made between 15,000-20,000 of GB pistol that last MSRP was $599.
