GUNCRAFTER 50GI MODEL 1 1911 PISTOL

GUNCRAFTER 50GI MODEL 1 1911 PISTOL CALIBER: .50GI SEMI-AUTO 1911      When we set out to design the M1, we started with a totally clean slate. We didn’t set a selling price and then try to decide on parts and features that would meet that price, instead, we carefully selected each and every part and feature to best meet our criteria for a superior defensive pistol. We could have completely changed the look of the M1 but we wanted to keep the classic Colt 1911 lines as well as the original size and weight. Sure, we could have made the whole pistol bigger and the round more powerful but let’s be honest, a 5" 1911 is the biggest handgun that most of us will carry on a daily basis and the 50GI cartridge has the extra power needed to get the job done while being controllable. The 50GI round was designed from the ground up to launch 50 caliber bullets from the Model No.1 pistol. Many experts agree that heavy bullets in conjunction with a large cross sectional bullet is crucial for increased stopping power. It is becoming more and more evident the importance of a heavier bullet in relation to stopping power. The 50GI is a low pressure round that doesn’t give you a big concussion blast like high pressure rounds such as the 10mm does. This makes it more tactically sound in a firefight. The 50GI case was designed with a .45ACP case head size which allows for a barrel and magazine swap so either round can be used in the same pistol with only a barrel and mag swap. This further increases its versatility and value. We also offer a variety of factory loaded ammunition and a complete line of reloading components for the hand loading enthusiast. A defensive pistol should have a simple, clean design with ergonomics to enhance the operation without complicating it. The M1 was designed for hard daily use. We have been in the 1911 industry for many years and have shot and carried 1911's during that time. We have learned through experience what works, what doesn’t and “why.” Every feature on the M1 exists for a reason; to make the pistol as user friendly and durable as possible. That is why we completely redesigned the magazine in order to have the best possible 1911 inside and out. Even the cosmetics reflect the no-nonsense seriousness of the M1, and Professional shooters everywhere can appreciate that. We spend a great deal of time on important aspects of the pistol such as reliability and precision fitting of all the components. We don’t need gimmicks on the M1. Options on the M1 are limited to items that can enhance the pistol for specialized needs. We will not make any modifications that would be detrimental to the operation or reliability of the pistol. The M1 is an extremely versatile pistol that is capable of many roles, whether it’s personal self-defense or offensive Police or Military operations. It also has potential as a hunting round and as a backup/protection pistol while hunting or hiking. The M1's versatility is one of its strongest attributes, and it fills the gap between a medium power .45ACP and large hand cannons. The M1 is a true custom quality pistol that you can feel confident with. It’s important to ask yourself why you carry a handgun. If today was “THE” day, wouldn’t you want the best tool for the job? We do, which is after all the true mission of the M1. Model No.1 Custom Highlights Proprietary Fully Machined Forged Frame and Slide All M1's are hand built starting with the finest of top quality components Original 1911 Size and Weight Fits in standard holsters and will accept many standard 1911 aftermarket parts. 40oz. unloaded. Heavy Match Grade 5" Barrel Made of Stainless steel for corrosion resistance and oversized for precise fitting of critical areas with precision rifling for accuracy. Thick walls increase rigidity and strength and help to reduce recoil. It does not use a barrel bushing which also eliminates a possible weak point. Full Length Guide Rod We know the use of guide rods is controversial in some circles, but the only half way legitimate argument against them is field stripping, but let’s be honest, in day to day carry that’s just not an issue, most conflicts are over in seconds. On the plus side it keeps the recoil spring straight which makes for smoother operation and increased spring life. With a reverse plug system as with the M1, field stripping only requires a paper clip or small nail. Mainspring Housing w/Integral Lanyard Loop Attachment and 20lpi Checkering Allows for a positive grip and the attachment of a weapon retention device to prevent loss during tactical operations and is unobtrusive when not in use. 20lpi Carry Checkering on Frontstrap Provides a secure grip on the middle portion of the frontstrap, while leaving the sides smooth to prevent snagging on clothing during concealed carry. Solid Aluminum Aluma-Grips Fully checkered for a sure grip and hard anodized coating adds durability that could last the lifetime of the pistol unlike wood grips. It also gives increased hand protection in the event of an accidental double charged round. Hand loaders can appreciate this feature. GI Magazines M1 magazines are made of heat treated stainless steel and are of heavier gage steel than standard 1911 mags for increased strength and rigidity. The magazines are positioned higher in the frame to increase reliability and give smoother feeding. The self lubricating polymer follower has a steel insert at the slide stop contact point for longer life. Our magazines are slightly longer in order to make room for an extra power chrome silicon spring for increased life and reliability. The base pads are machined from aluminum for light weight and durability and are designed so they can be grasped in the event that it sticks due to dirt or sand. They are available in 7rd.-50GI and 8rd.-45ACP capacity. Fully Machined Hammer and Sear Properly heat treated S7 Tool steel matched set ensures reliability and consistency. Trigger Specifications The M1 uses a lightweight aluminum trigger to reduce trigger bounce and has an overtravel adjustment screw which is secured with removable Loc-Tite to prevent loosening. Trigger pull weight is set at 4.5-5# for duty/carry use. Traditional Style Machined Extractor External extractors are all the rage now and there was nothing to stop us from using one, but we chose to stay with a traditional style even though it is more costly and time consuming to fit. It is far less affected by dirt and sand by design and is every bit as strong if it is of high quality and properly fit. Poor quality and fitting is the major cause of extractor failure. Reliability Features Barrel and feed ramp are properly contoured and highly polished for smooth feeding. The fully machined match grade extractor is properly tuned for reliable case extraction. An extended machined ejector is installed for positive ejection. Ejection port is fully lowered and flared. Top quality extra power Wolff springs are used throughout the pistol to ensure long life and positive, reliable operation. GI magazines are engineered for smoother feeding and extra power chrome silicon springs give long service life. Brown Products Tactical Thumb Safety Narrow tactical width gives sufficient contact surface, while keeping the profile to a minimum for concealed carry. M1 comes standard with strong side only safety for maximum simplicity. High Sweep Grip Safety Allows as high a grip as possible on the pistol to aid in recoil control and the raised pad disengages the safety mechanism quicker when using a higher grip. Slide Stop Full machined from barstock to close tolerances and properly heat treated for strength. Heinie Slant Pro Tritium Sights Superior quality fixed sights with tritium inserts for low light shooting environments, straight “8" style dots are fast and easy to use under stress. Beveled Magazine Well Entry edges of well are beveled for smooth and quick mag changes. Full De-horning All exterior edges have been beveled for smooth feel and snag free carry. Some internal edges are also beveled for more reliable and consistent operation. Parkerized Finish Mil-Spec parkerized finish offers corrosion protection while keeping the surface non-reflective. Model No.1 comes standard with 2 magazines and a Black Cordura case.
