Lithgow Small Arms Model 1
A project between the Factory and Slanzengers resulted in production of the very popular single-shot .22 bolt action Slazenger sporting rifles from 1945. These rifles used the same barrel steel as the legendary SMLE and almost 18,000 were delivered in the first year of manufacture. The 'Model 1' was followed by the 'Model 1A' and the 'Model 1B'. The Model 1 rifle is a is a rear locking, single shot bolt action made from ordnance steel and featuring a wooden stock. The rifle features a manual cocking pice for ignition. The rear sight is an adjustable V leaf with 25 yard increments. The front sight is a post adjustable for windage. The wooden stock features an ambidextrous design. There is a large quick take-down screw in the stock forend and steel sling swivels are attached to the forend and buttstock.
