Kongsberg Vapenfabrikk Kammerlader M1865 Cavalry Carbine
The Kammerlader means "chamber loader" -a rifle that was loaded not from the muzzle but through the chamber with a paper-catridges. That was very a advanced system in the era of muzzle loading black powder guns. The Kammerladers were easier and quicker to load so they were very fast, powerful and deadly rifles. Kammerlader M1865 Cavalry Carbine was chambered in 11.77 mm caliber (4 linjer) and it used an original percussion breech loading mechanism, similar to the Lobnitz and Scheel patents. They had sights for 200 and 600 feet. Around 1096 Kammerlader M1865 Cavalry Carbine were made and most of them went through a Lund conversion in 1869 to rimfire carbines chambered in 12.17 x 44mm RF.
