Remington Arms 6 Improved 32Rimfire
The Remington Improved Model 6 is the second improvement of the famous Remington Model 6. The Model 6 was made from 1901 to 1903, then from 1903-1929 the new Model Improved was made and finally from 1929-1933 the Improved Model 6 was made. Approximately 498,000 of the Model 6 rifles were made (all three variations combined). The Remington Improved Model 6 was designed by Remington's C.C. Loomis. It was a single shot take down rolling block rifle with a straight walnut stock. The No. 6 was the economy version of the rolling block action. The rolling block action was patented in 1863 by a Remington employee named Leonard Geiger. Remington was making rolling block rifles in the 19th and in first third of the 20th century. The Improved Model 6 has a 24" barrel and a receiver milled from a solid piece of steel, longer fore-end and coil springs instead of leaf springs. The new safety feature was that the rifle can be loaded only at the half-cock position.
