Orbis MGV-176

The MGV-176 is a submachine gun chambered for the .22 Long Rifle cartridge manufactured by Gorenje in Velenje (city in Slovenia - one of the republics of the former Yugoslavia) and after the break up of Yugoslavia in 1991, production continued by the Slovenian company Orbis. The MGV-176 submachine gun a has a long history, beginning in the US in early 1960s as the Casull Carbine, then became the American 180 in the late 1960s. The license was sold to Voere of Austria in 1972, who sold it to the Slovenian company in the mid-1980s. When the design reappeared in 1989 as the MGV-176, it had been out of production for over 10 years. MGV-176 submachine gun is blowback operated, selective-fired weapon which fires from open bolt. The receiver and pistol grip are made from polymer. Fire mode (single shots / full automatic) is controlled by the trigger pressure - shortpull on the trigger produces single shots, and long pull produces full automatic fire with a rather high cyclic rate. Due to the high rate of fire the MGV-176 could destroy many types targets despite the relatively low power ammo such as 22LR. To provide more fire power and more reliable cycling manufacturer recomended use of hi-power 22LR ammo. The MGV-176 submachine gun was delivered with a silencer.
