Detailed Review
The Smith & Wesson M36 is a popular double-action revolver that was first introduced in 1950. It quickly gained a reputation for reliability, accuracy, and ease of use, making it a favorite among law enforcement agencies, military personnel, and civilian shooters alike.
One of the standout features of the M36 is its compact size. With a barrel length of just 1.87 inches and an overall length of 6.3 inches, it is one of the smallest revolvers on the market. This makes it an ideal choice for concealed carry or as a backup weapon.
Despite its small size, the M36 is still chambered for a powerful cartridge - .38 Special. This cartridge has a proven track record as a self-defense round and provides ample stopping power without excessive recoil. The M36 also has a 5-round cylinder capacity, which is more than enough for most self-defense situations.
In terms of construction, the M36 is built to last. It features a durable stainless steel frame and cylinder, as well as a sturdy aluminum alloy grip. This combination of materials provides a good balance of strength and weight, resulting in a revolver that is both rugged and easy to handle.
Another key feature of the M36 is its smooth trigger pull. This is thanks to the revolver's double-action design, which allows the shooter to fire the weapon simply by pulling the trigger. There is no need to manually cock the hammer first, which can be a significant advantage in high-pressure situations.
Overall, the Smith & Wesson M36 is a well-regarded revolver that offers a combination of compact size, reliability, and accuracy. Whether you are looking for a concealed carry weapon, a backup gun, or a reliable home defense option, the M36 is definitely worth considering.

I have owned several model 57s and 58s. The current production 57 is well made. Some fault the cast parts in the trigger and hammer as well as the internal trigger lock. These are just a fact of life. The addition of a frame mounted firing pin is a positi

I've got 3 pieces from the classics collection, the 10,36 and 27. I am very happy with all 3 and shoot and carry them often. I realize they are not show pieces but modern guns to use and enjoy.

This is a beautiful revolver. Absolutely top of the line function and finish. If you are looking for an alternative to the small frame semi-autos, I highly recommend this mid-century classic.
