Detailed Review

The Ruger Redhawk is a robust and reliable revolver that has been in production since 1979. It is a double-action revolver designed for big-game hunting, sporting, and personal defense use. The Redhawk is known for its strength, durability, and accuracy, making it a popular choice among hunters and shooters alike.

The Redhawk has a heavy-duty frame made of stainless steel or blued carbon steel. The barrel length ranges from 4.2 inches to 7.5 inches, depending on the model. The revolver can chamber six rounds of .44 Magnum or .45 Colt, and some models can also shoot .454 Casull rounds. The Redhawk's cylinder is fluted to reduce weight and improve heat dissipation.

The Redhawk's grip is ergonomic and comfortable, and it has a large trigger guard that accommodates gloved fingers. The revolver's sights are adjustable, with models featuring either fixed or adjustable rear sights, and some models come with a fiber-optic front sight for improved visibility in low-light conditions.

The Redhawk has a smooth trigger pull, and its double-action trigger is easy to use, making it ideal for fast follow-up shots. The revolver also has a single-action trigger mode, which allows for more precise shooting at longer distances. The Redhawk's hammer can be positioned in the half-cock position, making it easier to load and unload the cylinder safely.

The Redhawk's safety features include a transfer bar mechanism that prevents accidental discharges, even if the revolver is dropped or struck. The revolver also has a locking device that immobilizes the hammer, preventing it from being cocked or fired. This feature is useful for storage and transport.

The Redhawk is easy to maintain, with its stainless steel frame being resistant to rust and corrosion. The revolver's cylinder can be easily removed for cleaning, and its internal parts can be accessed by removing the side plate. The Redhawk's design allows for easy replacement of worn or damaged parts.

In conclusion, the Ruger Redhawk is a well-designed and well-built revolver that is suitable for a wide range of uses. Its strength, accuracy, and reliability make it an excellent choice for hunting and shooting sports. Its safety features and ease of maintenance make it a practical and convenient revolver for personal defense and home protection.

A few months ago i purchased a ruger redhawk in 45 long colt 4 inch model. Buds shipping and service is top notch as always! The ruger on the other hand was not great. Out of the box after 15 rounds I got the dreaded action lock up in DA and the gun would

I am really impressed with this weapon. You really need to handload it to get the most out of it, and that is why I bought it. I have a 400 grain mold that is calling to me. The grips are very comfortable, if you can call a 1 oz slug out of a revolver tha

Extremely happy with this revolver. I was disappointed to learn that the manufacturer changed the design and went with a round butt for the newer version of this revolver. I search high and low to find this square butt older version with its incredibly st

I purchased a new Redhawk .45 Colt from Buds. When I got it, the gun looked great on the outside, but against the face where the firing pin is, the metal looked like pot metal; it wasn't looking like solid stainless steel. Well OK, it's no Smith or Colt.

Very well engineered revolver. I found the rubber grips abrasive and uncomfortable after shooting a few rounds. I filled the grips smooth where they engaged my hands. They are now much better. I was not given many choices when looking for a heavy frame si

As usual, Bud's did a fantastic job in quickly shipping the gun I ordered at an excellent price. After shooting the pistol, I am very pleased. I had heard that the Ruger Redhawk had a "less than acceptable" trigger pull due to the design using only one sp

Love this 45 colt revolver. If you like light weight guns do not buy this one. Its pretty heavy but shoots great. Grips make it easy to handle. Sights are right on but Ruger should have put a "white" insert on the front sight instead of the red. If you wa

I'm really liokong forward to making the final adjustments to this thing and seeing how it works out for you. I've often thought about shooting a deer with my own .44 Magnum. You're living the dream if you can make it happen this year!

Five years later this Redhawk still shoots accurate with nothing but heavy handloads. No sign of getting loose. Fine firearm. Nice crisp trigger and built like a tank. Very happy with this purchase and very thankful for Buds service.

This pistol is chambered in 45 Long Colt Matthew. The core 5027 and 5032 are the same. The difference in stock numbers has the price difference pretty far apart. Higher stock = lower price at Buds and vice versa.
