That little "dent" is normal. The firing pin on the AR rifle is free floating ( no return spring) and inertia as the bolt slams shut causes it to lightly strike the primer but never enough to make it fire. Take the bolt apart as you would for cleaning and

They are both great guns I have the sport II mainly because I know S&W will be around if I ever need any parts Mine is stock and will not be really modified . Now if I had the desire to tinker with and modify a AR-15 I would get the Del-ton

The Del-ton is one of the better rifle brands especially considering what you get for the price point. No worries here.
Briam - Del-Ton makes a good, 'working grade' AR-15. They're not fancy, not 'tack drivers', and not really 'tacti-cool' like the more expensive ones, but they pretty much go 'bang' when you pull the trigger, and should give you a 2 - 3 inch group at 100 y
