.45 Smith & Wesson Schofield

45 Schofield Ammo About The .45 Schofield Ammo, also known as the .45 Smith & Wesson, is a cartridge created for revolvers in 1875 in the United States but was discontinued in 1892. The .45 Schofield Ammo was initially created using the black powder rounds for the Model 3 Schofield Top-Break revolver. The .45 Colt Ammo was definitely more powerful than the .45 Schofield Ammo, but it took far too long for it to be reloaded by the cavalryman and only took 30 seconds to reload the .45 Schofield Ammo. This cartridge provided less recoil due to its reduced power and still provided the same stopping power as the .45 Colt Ammo. The .45 Schofield Ammo was highly effective because of its high accuracy and shooting capabilities, leading to its duplication in the cartridges of .45 ACP Ammo. The .45 Schofield Ammo has an overall length of 36.3mm, and the bullet diameter of this cartridge measures 11.5mm. The 250-grain bullet variant of the .45 Schofield Ammo can travel at a velocity of 710 feet per second while creating an energy level of 283 ft.lbf. Manufacturer The .45 Schofield Ammo was designed and manufactured in 1875 by Smith & Wesson in the United States. Uses The .45 Schofield Ammo provided good stopping power, penetration, and accuracy to the shooter and, for these reasons, was used by the US military from 1875 to 1892. It was also duplicated to create many other cartridges.
