223 Rem - 55 Grain SP - Speer Gold Dot - 20 Rounds

Overwhelmed by the vast selection of 223 Rem self-defense ammo available for your AR-15? Speer’s Gold Dot is a favorite among law enforcement professionals, and is engineered throughout to give you the best way of dealing with a life or death predicament! The Gold Dot bullet is special in that its jacket has been electrochemically fused to its alloyed lead core via Speer’s proprietary Uni-Cor method. Because a Gold Dot bullet’s jacket has been formed one atom at a time, it is perfectly concentric for heightened rotational stability in flight. Along with its 3,220 fps muzzle velocity and .222 ballistic coefficient, this round delivers pinpoint accuracy when you need it most. This round’s 55 grain bullet is a soft point. Its exposed lead core causes the bullet to rapidly fan out as it meets resistance from soft tissue, enabling it to transfer more of its energy all at once while simultaneously creating a cavernous wound cavity. The Gold Dot bullet’s bonded jacket benefits terminal performance as well, as it avoids the kind of fragmentation that could have reduced penetration depth. Speer optimizes this cartridge to pass the FBI test protocol for self-defense when fired from a rifle with a 16 inch or shorter barrel. (It will still deliver the goods through a longer barrel, too.) The round’s new production brass shell casing is coated with friction reducing nickel to ensure reliable feeding and extraction in a semi-automatic firearm, as well as boosted resistance to corrosion from humidity. CCI lent their intensely reliable Boxer primer to this cartridge, just one more reason that you can trust it when a fight finds you.
