It’d be great if Colt or Daniel Defense or Radical Firearms could just go ahead and invent an AR-15 that doesn’t need ammunition already. But until the gun boys pick up the slack and give us all what we truly need, we’re going to have to make due with Remington’s UMC 223 Rem ammo. Ammo like this is hardly a compromise, of course. It’s loaded according to Remington’s typical tight specs, assembled with high quality brass cases, non-corrosive primers, and clean burning propellant, and thoroughly inspected for quality before shipping out across the country. And its bullet makes it versatile. At 50 grains its muzzle velocity is supercharged to 3,425 fps, granting it a flat trajectory and a ton of energy to deliver at close range. As a JHP its jacket prevents it from becoming torn to pieces by high velocity impact, and its nose cavity promotes disastrous terminal expansion. All in all, we’d be thrilled to have ammo like this for a coyote hunt, home defense, or prepping. We’d be all ready until the infinite ammo AR finally hits the market in 20XX.
